Bake Macaroni and Cheese
Ingredients
- 2 cups milk
- 1 bay leaf
- pinch of gated nutmeg
- 4 tbsp butter
- 1/3 cup of flour
- salt & pepper to taste
- 1 1/2 cups of cheese (parmesan, cheese,
- 1 lb macaroni
- corn meal
Directions
- Make the sauce by gently heating the milk and bay leaf in small saucepan. Do not let it boil. Once it is about to boil pour milk back into measuring cup and set aside, remove bay leaf.
- Melt the butter in a medium saucepan. Add flour, and mix in well with wire whisk to a paste consistency. Cook for 2-3 minutes without burning the butter. Pour hot milk into the butter/flour mixture, and mix smoothly with whisk. Bring sauce to a boil. Stir constantly. Continue cooking for 4-5 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, nutmeg, and add all the cheese holding back a little for the top.
- Mixed in cooked noodles.
- Place in a greased and corn meal pan.
- Top with remaining cheese and sprinkle with corn meal.
- Cook in oven at 350 for about 20 minutes or until done.
