Tempura Batter
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1 c ice cold water
- 1/3 tsp baking soda
- 3/4 c flour
Directions
- Break the egg into a bowl containing the iced water and whisk until frothy.
- Add baking soda and flour.
- Mix until the flour is just mixed in. (Do not over beat).
- Batter should be very thin. If too thick, add a little more iced water.
- Place the bowl in a larger bowl full of ice to help keep the batter chilled when frying tempura items.
