Red Velvet Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 and 1/2 cups + 1 tbsp of all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp milk
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 and 1/2 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
- parchment paper
Dough Directions
- Soften butter and egg to room temperature (about 1 hour)
- In large bowl combine
- flour
- cocoa powder
- baking soda
- salt
- In mixer beat butter on high until creamy smooth
- Mix in brown sugar
- Mix in sugar
- Beat in egg
- Beat in milk
- Beat in vanilla extract
- Mix in food coloring
- With mixer off pour combined dry ingredients into web mixture
- Mix on low until you have a very soft dough
- Optional: Add more food coloring for deeper red
- Gently mix in chocolate chips
- Cover dough tightly with plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour
Baking Directions
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Line baking sheets with parchment paper
- Create about 1.5 tbsp balls and place on baking sheet.
- Bake for 9-10 minutes.
WARNING: Do not over bake or they will turn very hard!!!!
