Red Velvet Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cups + 1 tbsp of all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 and 1/2 tbsp red food coloring
  • 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • parchment paper

Dough Directions

  1. Soften butter and egg to room temperature (about 1 hour)
  2. In large bowl combine
  • flour
  • cocoa powder
  • baking soda
  • salt
  1. In mixer beat butter on high until creamy smooth
  2. Mix in brown sugar
  3. Mix in sugar
  4. Beat in egg
  5. Beat in milk
  6. Beat in vanilla extract
  7. Mix in food coloring
  8. With mixer off pour combined dry ingredients into web mixture
  9. Mix on low until you have a very soft dough
  10. Optional: Add more food coloring for deeper red
  11. Gently mix in chocolate chips
  12. Cover dough tightly with plastic wrap and chill for at least 1 hour

Baking Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350F
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper
  3. Create about 1.5 tbsp balls and place on baking sheet.
  4. Bake for 9-10 minutes.  

WARNING: Do not over bake or they will turn very hard!!!!
