Oster's Light 'n Crisp Waffles
Ingredients
- 2 egg yolks
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 cups fat-free milk
- 1/3 cup of apple sauce (or 1/3 olive oil)
- 2 cups wheat flour
- 2 egg whites, stiffly beaten
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
Directions
- Preheat waffle maker
- Place all ingredients, except egg whites, in a large bowl.
- Mix with whisk until smooth.
- Then add in by folding (beaten) egg whites.
- Pour a ladle full of batter in a cooking sprayed waffle maker.
- Bake until the steam no longer escapes or about 3 to 5 minutes.
- Serve with butter, syrup, honey and various fresh fruits.
Variations:
Pecan or Macadamia Nut Waffles
- Sprinkle 1 Tbsp finely chopped nuts over preheated waffel iron.
- Then pour 1/2 cup batter over the nuts.
- Bake as directed.
Bacon Waffles: Cook bacon strips.
- Pour 1/2 cup batter over waffle plates.
- Lay 1 strip of cooked bacon, cut in half, over batter.
- Bake as directed.
Cheese Waffles:
- Fold in 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese into batter.
- Bake as directed.
- Serve with syrup or your favorite creamed entree.
Blueberry Waffles:
- Fold 2 cups fresh blueberries into batter.
- Pour 3/4 cup of batter into waffle plate.
- Bake as directed.
Chocolate Chip Waffles:
- Fold 1 cup of chocolate chips into batter.
- Bake as directed.
