Granny's Shoo Fly Pie
Ingredients
- 1 c flour
- 2/3 c packed brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp butter
- 1 egg
- 1 c light molasses
- 3/4 c boiling water
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 2 Tbsp hot water
Directions
- I pre-made pie shell Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
- Mix flour, brown sugar and butter until forms a crumb topping.
- Place 1/2 of the crumb topping aside to be used later.
- To the remaining crumb mixture add the egg.
- In separate bowl mix together molasses and boiling water.
- Add slowly to batter and mix until completely combined.
- Before putting mix into pie shell, mix baking soda with the 2 tablespoons of hot water.
- Quickly add to batter and mix. Pour into unbaked pie shell.
- Sprinkle with remaining topping.
- Bake 45 minutes.
