Chocolate Chip Scones

Ingredients

  • 1/2 c whipping cream
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 1/2 c flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 stick cold butter, cut into small pieces
  • 3/4 c semi-sweet chips
  • 1/3 c sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Beat cream and egg together in a small bowl and put aside.
  3. In Kitchen Aid with a pastry blender, mix together flour, baking powder, baking soda.
  4. Add the butter in the Kitchen Aid bowl while continuing to mix.
  5. Add the sugar and chocolate chips.
  6. Slowly mix in the egg mixture. Mix only until if forms a dough.
  7. It should be sticky.
  8. Place dough on a floured surface and shape into a 9-inch circle, like a pie pan.
  9. Pre-cut into 10 to 12 wedges.
  10. Move wedges onto a greased cookie sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes.

you can substitue chocolate chips with dried fruit, blueberries or cherries.
