Bread Stuffing
Derezinski family stuffing for Thanksgiving.
Ingredients
- 1 lb. Bacon
- 2 cups onion
- 2 cups celery
- 1-1/2 lbs. (24oz. Loaf) bread
- 2 eggs
- 1/8 to a 1/4-cup poultry seasoning to taste
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp pepper
- 2 cups milk
- 3 cups water
Directions
- Break up bread into small pieces and let dry (overnight is best)
- Chop bacon (fine) and fry in skillet until crisp
- Chop onion and celery (fine). Add to skillet and sauté until tender
- Heat milk and water. Pour over bread and cover to soften
- Add 2 eggs to bread mix well
- Add poultry seasoning salt and pepper Mix well
- Add bacon, celery and onions
- If stuffing is not moist add more water
- Stuff turkey and bake remainder in separate pan
- Stuffing expands during cooking, leave room for expansion
