Apple Slices
From a cookbook at UNITED STATES STEEL
CRUST
- 2 cups flour
- 2 egg yolks
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ cup water
- ½ tsp. baking power
- 1 tsp. lemon juice
- ¾ cup lard
- Sift dry ingredients into bowl. Cut in lard as you would for pie.
- Mix egg yolks, water and lemon juice and add to four mixture. Blend Gently
- Dough will be very soft. Knead slightly.
- Bake in a 13x9x2-inch pan
- Put together as you would for a pie.
- P.S. You can chill up to 6 hours or overnight.
Filling
- 10 apples more or less
- 2 table spoons cinnamon
- 1-1/2 cups sugar
- 4 tablespoons. Flour
Bake
Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes or until golden brown.
Topping
While still warm, frost top with mixture of
- 1 cup confectioners sugar
- 2 tbls. Butter
- ½ teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tble. milk.
